Manuscript Submission Checklist
Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure that all items below have been completed. Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the author.
The manuscript topic fits the Aims and Scope of the journal.
The submission is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another journal. Any exceptions have been explained in the Comments to the Editor.
We encourage authors to prepare their manuscripts using the provided Microsoft Word or LaTeX templates. Employing these templates significantly accelerates the copy-editing process and shortens the time to publication for accepted articles.
Please send all files about your submission, including the manuscript file, title page, figures, tables, supplementary materials, appendix materials, and attach a cover letter when submitting your manuscript. Cover Letter template
All manuscripts should be composed in clear, concise, and coherent English. If English is not the authors' first language, we advise arranging for a native or proficient speaker to review the text prior to submission.
Manuscript Preparation
To ensure that your manuscript is processed efficiently and meets the journal's standards, please adhere to the following formatting requirements:
Submit your manuscript in Word (.doc/.docx) or LaTeX (.tex) format. PDF submissions are only accepted for the final version.
All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter. The letter should be brief, clearly articulating the significance of the study, contextualizing the findings within prior work, and demonstrating the manuscript's suitability for the journal's scope.
The journal accepts the following types of submissions:
Original Research manuscripts are structured as follows:
front matter (title, author list, affiliations, abstract, keywords),
main body comprising Introduction, Results, Discussion, Materials and Methods, and an optional Conclusions section,
and back matter including Supplementary Materials, Author Contributions, Funding, Data Availability Statement, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References.
Review manuscripts share:
the same front matter (title, author list, affiliations, abstract, keywords),
followed by a logically organized literature review, which may be divided into sections and subsections as appropriate,
and back matter consisting of Author Contributions, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References.
Title Page:
Title of the manuscript,
Full names of all authors,
Affiliations for all authors (institutional names, departments, cities, countries),
Corresponding author details (email, phone number).
Abstract and Keywords:
Provide an abstract of no more than 250 words, summarizing the key findings of your research.
Follow the abstract with a list of 3-6 relevant keywords.
Organize your manuscript into clear sections, such as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.
Use numbered headings and subheadings to organize your content.
All figures and tables should be included within the manuscript file. High-resolution images (at least 300 dpi) are required for publication.
Each figure/table should be labeled and referenced in the text.
References are to be numbered sequentially according to their first appearance in the text, including table captions and figure legends, and grouped in a separate list at the end of the manuscript. Each entry must include the full article title, as specified by the ACS Style Guide.
All OSA journals are fully open access, meaning that anyone, anywhere can freely access, read, download, distribute, and reuse the published content. To support the continued availability of this open access model and foster communication within academic communities, authors are required to pay an article processing charge (APC) for articles that have passed peer review and are accepted for publication.
